How To Ship a Hybrid Panel

Packaging

Hybrid panels are shipped inside black anti-static briefcases. Four stand-offs have been mounted into the bottom. A box can fit at most two panels.

Place a hybrid panel face down on the four stand-offs. Secure it in place using either another male/female stand-off if placing more panels (a box can fit at most two panels) or a female stand-off with butterfly top.

Once panels are loaded, tape two humidity indicators and a desiccant pack to the top of the box. They can be found on a short shelf in ISO5 dry storage.

Close the box and latch it. If the latches are broken, then keep it closed using a piece of tape. Ensure that an untriggered shockwatch (aka not red) is on the cover. If it has triggered, then replace it with a new 25g shockwatch. They are stored underneath the assembly table.

Place the box into a large gray anti-static bag. Use the astrapac heat sealer to create a seal on two sides of the bag opening close to the bag. It takes 10s to create a seal. Ensure to leave a hole that can fit the N2 nozzle. The astrapac is turned off at the wall socket. Make sure to leave some time at first to heat it up.

Cut the bag to size once the inital seal is there.

Use the N2 nozzle to fill the anti-static bag until it bulges out. Hold it like like that for a few seconds. Push excess gas out of the bag.

Use the astrapac to fully seal the bag by pressing it on the hole left for the N2 nozzle.

Shipping

We don't ship on Fridays to minimize the time a package spends in DHL hands.

A DHL account can be requested by emailing UoB Postal Services (postalservices@contacts.bham.ac.uk) with your contact information (email and phone number) and the School of Physics and Astronomy code (177).

Use the DHL website to create an outgoing shipment package. The list of official ITk shipping address is available in the ITk Address Book.

The package weight and dimensions can be obtained using the scale and ruler in the technician office.

Tape to the box the following print-outs:

Database Shipment

The packages need to be shipped in the ITk Production Database. A tutorial on how to do that can be found in official ITk documentation: Database_Tutorial_IV_-_shipping.pdf.

Ensure to perform the database shipment as soon as you prepare a package.
